Business Card Program - Free Today

I have downloaded a new program from the Giveaway of the Day website, and if you are in need of a quick and easy way to create business cards I suggest you go check it out in the next couple of hours. I’ve added a link to the Giveaway of the Day website in my sidebar so you can check out their kewl giveaways.

Today they have BusinessCard MX as the giveaway, and I downloaded it to see how it would work for creating business cards for my websites such as Family Caregiver Info and others. This is the one that I created for The Writing Office in just a few minutes -

The program is easy to use and has a quick enough learning curve to it.  The clipart you see here was part of the clipart that was bundled with the program, which has an impressive collection of clipart and some really nice pre-made backgrounds for a wide variety of professions.

The program supports a wide range of card types and papers for printing your cards, or as you can see it is very easy to save the finished card as an image.  The program offers a variety of image saving sizes and even the ability to export as a CMYK image.

As I was checking the image save options just now I found a huge selection of pre-made designs that you can customize with your own information.  The perfect tool for the small business owner that wants to experiement with creating a range of card styles at home before they decide if they want to invest in a large scale printing of cards - or as a way to create your own print-on-demand cards that you can print out as you need them.

Enough from me, get over to the Giveaway of the Day site so you can download this handy busienss card program for yourself before it’s no longer being given away.

April 15th is in the past now

Time to get to work on the taxes.  No, not next year’s taxes, although that is still a consideration, I am talking about working on this year’s taxes under the extension.  I filed an extension to give me a bit more time to sort things out, and it is a good thing I did because in the last two days of cleaning the office up from the other taxes I had done for people I have found three piles of receipts tucked away into nooks and crannies that I had not noticed before now.  I need to get them entered into my spreadsheet program and organized so they can be accounted for along with the rest of my business expenses for 2007.

I have also decided I am going to shift things around here at The Writing Office and move my blog off the main page and instead create a resource for writers to find out what they need to know about working - particularly from a home office.  So watch in the coming weeks for a complete rebuild of this website that will make it more focused for what I had in mind when I first started it.

Kindle sold out at Amazon

I logged into Amazon.com this morning to find an apology letter from Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon, for the unexpected selling out of the Amazon Kindle within the first 5 1/2 hours of release. They are shipping them out on first come first serve, but it looks like they are scrabbling. There is a promise that any new Kindle orders will be filled on a first ordered first served basis.

Need sleep, but first info on kewl things

I have discovered that it is hard to write when your nose is in the way on the keyboard.  That can occur when you have fallen asleep at the computer.  Oh well, guess I should bail and sleep.

Before I give in, there are two things I want to remember to mention that I found.  Well, I found one, the other I got nifty email from guys having requested notice of the thing when I found it long ago.

The email one is that the new writing recognition pen is about to be released.  Think they said it would have a $150 price tag, I need to dig up the e-mail and get details on that.

The other one, I found a free flipbook for using on websites.  Very way kewl! I’m playing with it now, will share that info later too and a demo book.

New post writing tool

I’ve downloaded Windows Live Writer to help me with keeping my blogs updated.  It seems to be working really good so far.  I like the program and it is nice to be able to juggle a little more easily.

We all know I hate change though, so only time will tell if I really do adopt it for my blogs or if I ditch it and return to updating them one at a time manually.
