I have downloaded a new program from the Giveaway of the Day website, and if you are in need of a quick and easy way to create business cards I suggest you go check it out in the next couple of hours. Today they have BusinessCard MX as the giveaway, and I downloaded it to see how it would work for creating business cards for my websites such as Family Caregiver Info and others. This is the one that I created for The Writing Office in just a few minutes -

The program is easy to use and has a quick enough learning curve to it.  The clipart you see here was part of the clipart that was bundled with the program, which has an impressive collection of clipart and some really nice pre-made backgrounds for a wide variety of professions.

The program supports a wide range of card types and papers for printing your cards, or as you can see it is very easy to save the finished card as an image.  The program offers a variety of image saving sizes and even the ability to export as a CMYK image.

As I was checking the image save options just now I found a huge selection of pre-made designs that you can customize with your own information.  The perfect tool for the small business owner that wants to experiement with creating a range of card styles at home before they decide if they want to invest in a large scale printing of cards - or as a way to create your own print-on-demand cards that you can print out as you need them.

I swear that the work never seems to end. I’m sitting here at the moment wanting to log into AIM and catch up with my writing friends on there, but instead I am trying to finish up some of the things that got left undone during the week. I’m also a half a week behind on the writing course that I am taking, so I have to find the time tonight to get caught up on that. I don’t want to slip behind on that. It’s nice, the course is an easy paced one that I can finish in my own time, but I really hate to get behind on the things that I am working on in it because then I’m not sure when or even if I could catch back up.

So, this weekend is split between work and a desire to chatter with my friends. Think I’ll take a lunch break as soon as I have a few more SNAFUs fixed, log into AIM during my lunch hour.

Updates are going okay on my websites, I finally got the new program on my Family Caregiver Info site working right, so now I get to write up a lot of content for that site and get it really up and going smoothly. This is not going to be a fast process, since I am taking an online writing course, Holly Lisle’s How to Think Sideway’s course to be exact, so things are spread out between work and the course at the moment. I can’t complain any about that, however, since I am learning a lot from the course and after 5 weeks am as excited about the stuff I am learning as I was the day that I took the plunge and dove into the course. Right now I have to get to work on the writing that pays the bills, and lets me do things like keep a family caregiver site and take a writing course, so I’ll chatter more later and sign off now.

I’m planning to spend today getting Heir to Magic’s website caught up and then, if I have any time, to catching up any other sites I can.  This one should probably be right up there at the top of the list for ones to get caught up, huh?  Maybe I’ll do that, make today a complete writing catchup day with Heir to Magic and The Writing Office being updated and completely caught up to date on the things that they have not been updated on in far too long.

It’s a muggy day, and I am about to settle in for a long day of working with a cup of spiced tea sweetened with honey, so it’s a good day to dedicate to writing.  Might run up to the library later on my ATV, but not sure - I think I owe late fees and don’t have the money at the moment to catch them up.  Might roll pennies and see about taking them up there to pay - it’s about $8 I think.  Might do that if the rain looks like it’s going to let up for a while.  Otherwise, I’m here for the day.
